What it is like

A sit-on-top kayak is the easiest way out onto the lake: it is stable, you cannot get stuck in it, and it is easy to climb back on from the water. Lake Siriu has more than 11 kilometres of water between the mountains, with quiet shores and bays to stop in. The guide stays with you the whole time and shows you everything, so it suits people who are on the water for the first time too.

How it goes

1. Book: call us, message us on WhatsApp or send the request from the website, for any day of the week.
2. We meet at the base, at Pensiunea La Lac, and you ride with us in the minibus if there are seats, or straight on the shore of Lake Siriu.
3. The guide prepares the kayak and the gear and shows you how to paddle.
4. You paddle across the lake to beautiful spots: some exercise, a swim, sunbathing, a break on a quiet shore.
5. At the end you can shower and change at the base.

Good to know

• A sit-on-top kayak is very stable: you sit on it, not in it, so balancing and climbing back on from the water are easy.
• The kayaks have 3 seats that can be moved: paddle on your own, as two, or two adults with a child.
• An outing starts from 5 people. Fewer of you? Ask us.
• You do not need to know how to swim: you wear a life jacket and the guide is with you.
• Children can come from age 7.
• It is organised the same way as stand-up paddle; you can mix both on the same outing.
• Groups of more than 10 people get a discount.

Where it is and how to get there

Kayak and stand-up paddle outings are on Lake Siriu, the reservoir among the Buzău Mountains a few kilometres upstream of Nehoiu. We meet at the base in Păltineni, Nehoiu (on the DN10 Buzău–Brașov road), or straight at the lake — about two hours from Brașov and two and a half to three hours from Bucharest.
