on the Buzău River

Rafting

Below: details and photos

What it is like

Rafting means running a stretch of fast water in an inflatable raft, with a guide. It is not only for the very fit: groups of friends, families with children from age 7 and colleagues all come. Our guides grew up on the Buzău River, have hundreds of runs behind them and are certified by the International Rafting Federation (IRF). Every raft has its own guide, who tells you what to do all the way. We set off from our base, you get your gear and a briefing, and at the end you come back to a hot shower.

How it goes

  1. Book: call us, message us on WhatsApp or send the request from the website. A run starts from 4 people; if you are 1–3, we add you to a group.
  2. You learn the time the evening before. It depends on when water is released from the Siriu dam; when the river is high after rain or snowmelt, we agree on the time together.
  3. Come to the base, in the yard of Pensiunea La Lac: park, change in the changing room and get your gear.
  4. We give the safety briefing, then the minibus takes you to the river. We bring the rafts ourselves, on a trailer.
  5. You run the river with a guide in the raft; a support car follows the run along the road.
  6. The minibus brings you back to the base: a hot shower, a change of clothes, and you are done.

The run

Nehoiașu → Valea Lupului

Through the “Washing Machine” rapid

~14.5 kmabout 3 hours

The longest rafting run on the Buzău, with its best stretch of waves; the last part is calmer.

The run starts at the Nehoiașu power station. The time is approximate: it depends on how high the river is that day.

The run on the map

This is the stretch of river where we raft. The length of the run and where it starts and ends can change from day to day, depending on the water level, the weather and safety conditions; the guide sets the exact run on the day.
